Shanghai Noodles with Seafood Fried Rice (Shanghai Heping)

Upon my recent travels to New York, I stumbled upon the greatest treasure of them all! Shanghai Heping was its name, and let me just say that it was mind blowing. I had the Shanghai noodles and at first I was a little questionable about whether or not I had chosen the right thing off of the menu. Fortunately, one of the waiters was so kind to help me decide what to get. The noodles had this weird ingredient in them that I had never encountered before. After much deliberation, I finally tried this new ingredient, only to find out it was bamboo shoots! It tasted amazing and totally brought out the unique flavor of the noodles. For a side dish I chose the seafood fried rice. This was somehow more amazing then the noodles! The first thing I noticed was the huge plate it was presented on, and that the there was enough rice to fill the plate. As I dug into my rice wth the first spoon full, I noticed that there were scallops and octopus chunks in there. It was fantastic! Thankfully the rice was fried, and not deep fried like other wannabe restraunts. No soy sauce was needed either!  At just $5 a plate, affordable is the keyword in their description. So whenever you are in Chinatown, check out Shanghai Heping.
